Biden Delays Release Of CIA Files On Kennedy Assassination — RFK Jr. Responds

While the media has touted the Thursday release of over 13,000 records related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy by the Biden administration, the release fell painfully short of the transparency the American people have been promised for decades. Frustration is being felt by millions of Americans that the 3 percent of the records still redacted completely or partially could be pivotal to understanding that tragic day.

Perhaps no one feels that frustration more, than the late president's nephew, Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

According to NBC News, the records in question primarily reflect the time spent by Lee Harvey Oswald in Mexico City and alleged contacts he had with CIA assets while there.

"But about 4,300 records remain redacted in part — with no record completely blacked-out — according to the agency, and experts say there's no justification for withholding them to protect national security or intelligence gathering."

Judge John H. Tunheim told the outlet, "We’re 59 years after President John Kennedy was killed and there’s just no justification for this." Tunheim chaired the Assassination Records Review Board established by Act of Congress in 1992 by unanimous vote. A vote that current President Joseph R. Biden Jr., participated in as senator.

In a series of tweets Monday, Kennedy criticized Biden for failing to disclose all of the information.
He wrote, "Here is a picture of me with my uncle, whose wisdom affected me profoundly. Today, these words of his are especially relevant: 'A nation that is afraid to let its people judge truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.'"

"As a Senator, Joe Biden voted for the Assassination Records Act of 1992, requiring that all documents related to the killing of JFK be released by 2017," he continued. "But President Biden is still keeping thousands of pages heavily redacted, including 44 pages related to a shadowy CIA agent and a covert program that had contact with Lee Harvey Oswald just months before my uncle was killed."
"Nobody should be surprised when Americans are distrustful of a government that refuses to reveal 60-year-old secrets," RFK Jr. explained. "The American people are entitled to see every document, as the law requires. The majority of people working at the CIA are good, patriotic people committed to their missions and the law. My own daughter-in-law was a field agent, and she is among the bravest people I have known."

CIA officials reportedly disagreed with the number of records that refer to CIA agent George Joannides whom RFK Jr. referred to, however, they confirmed that two of the outstanding records are set to be released on Thursday, per NBC.

The agency said in a statement, "We believe all CIA records substantively related to Mr. Joannides were previously released, with only minor redactions, such as CIA employees’ names and locations." The CIA boasted of its "tremendous progress" toward making all the records public.

"We’re talking about over 87,000 documents originally included in the JFK Act collection," the CIA added. "And as of today, CIA has completely disclosed more than 84,000 of those to the public without any redactions. That amounts to about more than 95% of those documents, released in full."

The Act of Congress requiring the release,  the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992, requires "all Government records concerning the assassination of President John F. Kennedy should carry a presumption of immediate disclosure, and £dl records should be eventually disclosed to enable the public to become fully informed about the history surrounding the assassination."

The fact that the CIA cannot discern that "more than 95%" and "all Government records" are not the same belies either the 'intelligence' of the agency involved or its lawful conduct.
