'Save Your Breath, Rev. Sharpton': DeSantis Team BASHES Al Sharpton For Using Jordan Neely Eulogy To Attack The Florida Governor

Following Al Sharpton's criticism of Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) over the weekend in the reverend's eulogy of Jordan Neely, the DeSantis’ team fired back at the civil rights activist for his words.

DeSantis has previously come out in support of Daniel Penny, the 24-year-old ex-Marine who is facing manslaughter charges for the passing of Jordan Neely on the New York subway, per the DC Enquirer. Neely was an erratic homeless man who was threatening harm against passengers on the ride, prompting Penny to place the man in a chokehold which led to his death.

Neely had 42 prior arrests to the incident, causing many people to question the system that allowed a violent and mentally ill man like him to continue to be on the streets. 

DeSantis shared his support for Penny through his Twitter, writing, “We must defeat the Soros-Funded DAs, stop the Left's pro-criminal agenda, and take back the streets for law-abiding citizens. We stand with Good Samaritans like Daniel Penny. Let’s show this Marine... America’s got his back.” The tweet also contained a link to a GiveSendGo page for Penny’s legal team.

Sharpton was happy to attack DeSantis in the eulogy for Neely, saying, "I know, Governor DeSantis, that you're putting black history and LGBTQ and Latino out of the school, but I have a Bible to put in the governor's office. Because apparently, you don't know what the Good Samaritan was. Jesus told the parable of the Good Samaritan."
DeSantis’ press secretary Bryan Griffin bashed the civil rights activist for using the eulogy to attack a political opponent. 

"Democrats never miss an opportunity to take a political jab and try to further divide our country — even at a funeral," Griffin said per Fox News. "Save your breath, Rev. Sharpton. These attacks simply don't work on Governor DeSantis. He is not afraid to speak the truth."

The entire eulogy was a political device to further divide people, specifically trying to pit black citizens and white citizens against one another. Sharpton stated that “when they choked Jordan, they put their arms around all of us,” adding that “All of us have a right to live.”

The words are not the words of a group mourning the loss of life, but a man trying to attack others for not believing the same as him. The system is entirely to blame for the unfortunate situation that took place on May 1st, but the reverend seems much more content to blame the race for the event and move on.
