Controversial transgender influencer and biological male Dylan Mulvaney took to social media to whine about the boycott against Bud Light, claiming that it was bringing “more transphobia than I could’ve ever imagined” and also slamming the company for not supporting the influencer as he deals with the backlash.
Bud Light and parent company Anheuser-Busch have been reeling since their catastrophic partnership with the transgender influencer where they sent him a custom can to celebrate his ‘365 Days of Womanhood.’ The move resulted in a record boycott against the American beer company causing millions of dollars in lost sales and massive brand damage, per DC Enquirer.
Mulvaney shared a video on Thursday where the male shared how he “love[s] beer and [he] always [has].” The influencer then began discussing how there was something “uncomfy” that he needed to get off of his chest, specifically the deal with Bud Light and the boycott that he was partially responsible for.
“What transpired from that video was more bullying and more transphobia than I could’ve ever imagined, and I should’ve made this video months ago but I didn’t," the biological male whined. "And I was scared, and I was scared of more backlash, and I felt personally guilty for what transpired, so I patiently waited for things to get better. But surprise, they didn’t. And I was waiting for the brand to reach out to me, but they never did."
It seems bizarre that Mulvaney would expect anything from Bud Light themselves. First and foremost, what they did was simply a business deal. There was no actual connection between them and once the video was done and the deal was executed, they were once again nothing more than business and customers.
Secondly, it seems awfully audacious for a person responsible for millions of dollars in profit loss to complain about the reception they’ve received from the company they assisted in ruining.
"And for months now, I’ve been scared to leave my house, I have been ridiculed in public, I’ve been followed, and I have felt a loneliness that I wouldn’t wish on anyone,” the biological male continued. “And I’m not telling you this because I want your pity, I am telling you this because this is my experience from a very privileged perspective, know that it is much, much worse for other trans people."
“For a company to hire a trans person and then not publicly stand by them is worse in my opinion than not hiring a trans person at all, because it gives customers permission to be as transphobic and hateful as they want," Mulvaney added.
In all fairness to Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth, he also never stood against the transgender movement either. In fact, in his most recent TV interview, he stood for literally nothing, throwing platitudes around in an attempt to be as inoffensive as possible, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer.
Regardless of what Mulvaney says, it seems really bizarre that he is unable to see the clear harm that he has caused to a company and still has the audacity to attack them. Of course, Bud Light’s hands are by no means clean in this situation, being just as, if not more guilty, than the influencer.
The biological male simply needs to man up and realize that the company is exactly that – a company. They have no actual interest in truly supporting the LGBTQ community given that they were just trying to meet a liberal quota to appear more friendly to their consumers. The company's plan, however, blew up in its face.
