On Thursday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre harshly slapped down the possibility of President Joe Biden pardoning his son Hunter Biden of potential charges against him in an ongoing federal investigation over his potential corrupt business deals.
When Fox News reporter Mark Meredith asked the question, Jean-Pierre very quickly provided the strong answer of “no,” before moving on to other topics. Another reporter then attempted to ask the question, seemingly dissatisfied with the brief, untelling answer, but the press secretary shut that down early, stating, “I just said no.”
Hunter Biden recently had his plea deal fall apart after it was noted that the deal would not include immunity for potential Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA) violations, something that the Hunter Biden legal team seemed intent on getting, as previously reported on by the DC Enquirer.
The plea deal intended to allow Hunter to plead guilty to two misdemeanors and a felony for the illegal possession of a firearm, allowing the first son to avoid any jail time, per the DC Enquirer. The deal would require that Hunter stay completely drug-free for 24 months as well as surrendering his Second Amendment right and agreeing to never own a firearm again.
Hunter Biden’s legal team was also in hot water after being accused of lying to the clerk’s office whenever a former co-worker of the lead attorney called the office and claimed to be from the House Ways and Means Committee, as previously covered by the DC Enquirer. The woman who called attempted to claim that she did not state she was with the committee and blamed miscommunication on the clerk's office for the problem.
The deal was largely considered a sweetheart deal with the collapse widely being celebrated by conservatives, per the DC Enquirer.
Whether the answer from Jean-Pierre is President Biden’s official stance on that matter is yet to be seen. The president has made it clear that he does care for his son, making the idea of him pardoning his son seem very possible, especially in the case that he is found guilty and receives prison time.
