WATCH: CNN Correspondent Is Very Upset Republicans Are Questioning The FBI - 'It Is A Little Depressing'

On Wednesday, Chief National Affairs Correspondent Jeff Zeleny voiced his frustration at House Republicans for questioning the FBI, after corruption in the bureau has become increasingly clear to the American people at large.

"It’s stunning, really, when you think from the campaign cycles gone back — gone by, that Republicans are questioning and sort of anti-law enforcement. It’s just — it’s sort of mind-bending that we are at this point, but we absolutely are," Zeleny said during a Wednesday appearance on CNN's 'Inside Politics,' as previously reported by Breitbart News. "And at every Republican campaign event, every Republican candidate really running for office at any level, there is this skepticism built-in of the FBI, of the government, of law enforcement, because of Donald Trump."

As the DC Enquirer previously reported, House Republicans grilled FBI Director Christopher Wray earlier this week. His many non-answers and evasions even lead House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) to float defunding the agency. Jordan told Fox News's Sean Hannity, "That is why we have to use the power of the purse and the appropriation process to limit how American tax dollars are spent. That is why we can't reauthorize FISA [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] in its current form. And that is why we should think about moving the headquarters to Huntington, Alabama."

"I mean, that’s what we’re talking about. So, this is a manifestation of the Trump era here. Look, I’m not sure anything was accomplished this morning in terms of advancing the ball at all with the — aside from just question after question being asked about this," Zelener continued.

Zeleny then speculated that "It’s almost a Republican candidate has to do this now. They have to question the FBI, but never mind the people who are actually working in the FBI; there are — a couple of them get headlines for some of their roles in investigating the former President, but the vast majority of them are hardworking Americans, many Republicans, some Democrats, etc., some non-partisan. And it’s a little depressing, I think.”

What is truly depressing is Zeleny's analysis of the situation. Republicans are simply being realists here -- corruption in the FBI is readily apparent and Americans can trust their eyes and ears. We do not need a ruling class of 'experts' to explain reality to us. No one doubts that there are many good men and women in the FBI, but there is clearly systemic rot that must be dealt with politically, in 2024 and beyond.
