WATCH: President Trump Reacts to the Nashville Mass Shooting, Praises Police Response

On Wednesday, 45th President Donald Trump reacted to the Nashville mass shooting in Covenant Elementary School in an interview with John Fredericks radio network.

The massacre led to the death of three nine-year-old children and three elderly staff members who have been identified as Evelyn Dieckhaus, nine, Hallie Scruggs, 9, William Kinney, 9, Cynthia Peak, 61, Katherine Koonce, 60, and Mike Hill, 61.

The segment began when the host asked Trump what it is like to deal with such a tragedy while in the White House and the host asked about Biden’s abysmal response to the crisis by infamously asking for chocolate chip ice cream.

“Well somebody messed up. It was so horrible. Everyone is waiting to hear his words and he’s talking about ice cream with a laugh,” Trump said. “He’s laughing about it. He’s joking about it.”

Trump then went on to explain that other countries see the United States “as a joke” due to Biden failed leadership.

The host then asked about what Trump would do to make sure that children are safe while attending school, emphasizing arming teachers.

“There are teachers that are very good with guns,” Trump responded. “You have teachers that have a great record, they’re in the military and everything else. And they’re in the school and you can do that. You don’t need a very big percentage. You take the people that are really adept with guns.”

“You have people who are very good with weapons and guns that could, you know if they are right there on the spot, you could have that,” Trump stated. “Put them safely someplace but very nearby. If you have something like that happen you could take them out.”

“I thought the police acted incredibly well yesterday, I will say that. They really acted unbelievably well you know the speed and the bravery as opposed to other schools where it wasn’t that way,” Trump remarked. “But you need help. We have military, we have ex-military. We have a lot of people that would be good there. In many cases, they don’t have the right guards. In many cases, you have guards with no weapons.”

“So you have to strengthen it up. There’s no question about it,” Trump added.

The 45th president then went on to explain that the anger of the shooter may have been caused by her identity as transgender and the drugs that may have been taken to transition.
