WATCH: Protester Humiliates Democrat Adam Schiff, Calls Him A ‘Scumbag’ In Viral Clip

On Monday morning, the House Judiciary Committee, led by Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), hosted the “Victims of Violent Crime in Manhattan” hearing that is being used to showcase the impact of lackluster crime enforcement by district attorneys in America’s biggest cities.

During the hearing, however, a member of the audience humiliated Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) while he attempted to argue that the GOP congressional leadership was acting “as the criminal defense counsel of Donald J. Trump.”

In response to this claim, a man in the audience began yelling and calling the representative a “scumbag” before being escorted out of the room by Capitol Police.

The man also shouted that the hearing was taking place because of Alvin Bragg as Rep. Jordan insisted that he be removed. The protester did say “I love you Jim Jordan” as he was being escorted away.

Following the outburst, Rep. Schiff continued with his statement and explained that the indictment of President Trump showcased the strength of America’s democracy and not its weakness. He also claimed that the hearing was an effort to influence justice and intimidate DA Alvin Bragg.

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, a number of individuals were testifying in front of the committee including three individuals who were victims of crime, the founder of Victims Rights NY Jennifer Harrison, Democrat New York City Committeeman Bob Holden, and New York City Detectives’ Endowment Association President Paul DiGiacomo.

The hearing’s main purpose is to better understand how the criminal enforcement policies of district attorneys are impacting crime in the Big Apple.

As reported by The New York Post earlier this year, 172,852 felony crimes took place in 2022, making it the highest level of such crime in the city since at least 2006. In comparison, the number of felony crimes in the city in 2021 was 143,522, an increase of over 20 percent year-over-year. 2006, when the data was first recorded, saw 171,318 felony crimes.

Making matters worse is the hundreds of police officers who are resigning from NYPD in recent years.

According to a new report from The New York Post, a staggering 239 officers left the force in January and February, marking a 36 percent spike from the previous year’s numbers. Compared to 2021, resignations have seen a shocking 117 percent increase from the 110 officers who left the force that year.

The staggering loss of personnel is the worst in over 15 years when 250 officers left the force within the two first months of the year back in 2007. However, back then they weren’t leaving due to high crime, it was instead a contract dispute with city officials.

While the committee may not lead to substantial changes in how New York district attorneys like Alvin Bragg operate, it already has created plenty of fireworks.
