Bud Light Begins Massive Wave Of Layoffs For Corporate Positions Amid Continuing Boycott

Bud Light is having to make compensations for their massive losses following their disastrous team-up with controversial transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, announcing on Wednesday that they would be laying off members of the corporate and marketing team.

A spokesperson for Anheuser-Busch released a statement to CNN stating that the company would be restructuring to “simplify and reduce laters within its organizations.” They did note that they would not be laying off any of their “brewery and warehouse staff, drivers, and field sales, among others,” leaving essentially only corporate positions.

Recent reports also show that the brand is down nearly 30 percent in sales compared to the same time last year, per the DC Enquirer. The drop in sales represents millions per week that are being lost and could show even more in yearly reporting.

They also said that layoffs represent “less than 2%” of the total workforce for Anhesuer-Busch, being an estimated amount of 380 positions.

“Today we took the very difficult but necessary decision to eliminate a number of positions across our corporate organization,” said Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth. “While we never take these decisions lightly, we want to ensure that our organization continues to be set for future long-term success.”

Bud Light and parent company Anheuser-Busch have been reeling since their catastrophic partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney after the company sent him a custom can to celebrate his ‘365 Days of Womanhood.’ The move resulted in a record boycott against the American beer company causing millions of dollars in lost sales and massive brand damage, per DC Enquirer.

Bud Light has dropped from both its number one sales position in America allowing Modelo Especial to take the first place spot as well as down the popularity rankings of American beers, as previously covered by the DC Enquirer

The layoff of corporate employees makes far more sense and seems far more justified than the layoff of manual labor workers that work in the factories. Of course, in some parts, it’s still unfortunate for these workers as they had very little to do with the direct partnership that has been too messy for the company.

Regardless, it’s clear that Bud Light isn’t out of the woods. Who knows how much more the company will need to do to either compensate for the immense losses or repair their name but it is yet to be seen.
