‘Does The President Plan To Serve All Eight Years?’ Karine Jean-Pierre Won’t Answer

During a Tuesday press briefing at the White House, Democrat President Joe Biden’s Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre encountered a question no incumbent wants to hear after just announcing the launch of their campaign.

An as-yet, unnamed journalist asked Jean-Pierre “Does the President plan to serve all eight years?”

The question seemed to catch the secretary flat-footed. As The New York Post reported, she “appeared unsure” about whether the 80-year-old Biden would complete a full four-year second term. She didn’t provide a clear answer at all.

Jean-Pierre answered laughing, “I’m not — I’m just not going to get ahead of the President. That’s something for him to decide. I’m just not going to get ahead of it. And we’re — there’s a 2024 campaign. Anything related to that, I would refer you to that.”

Naturally, KJP’s non-answer started a firestorm on social media leading her to carefully walk back the comment in a Tuesday afternoon tweet.

She wrote, “As you know, we take following the law seriously. So I wanted to be sure that I didn’t go into 2024 more than is appropriate under the law. But I can confirm that if re-elected, @POTUS would serve all 8 years.”

Indeed, earlier that day Biden had announced his candidacy for another term with sitting Vice President Kamala Harris remaining at his side. As many outlets have noted, Biden is already the oldest president to ever serve and should he win a second term, he would be an unprecedented 86 years old by 2029.
