It's 'An Onslaught': New York City Mayor Eric Adams Says 50 Percent Of Hotel Rooms Are Filled With Migrants, Continues To Complain Without Taking Action

On Wednesday, New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) whined about the city's hotels being heavily occupied by illegal aliens taking sanctuary in the city, claiming that 50 percent of the hotel rooms were occupied.

According to Blaze Media, the failing mayor made the comments when addressing the criticism of his handling of the influx of migrants in the Big Apple.

“In order to address an onslaught, you have to have places you can put people. Almost half of all hotel rooms now are taken up by asylum seekers,” Adam said. “Think about that. I’m not sure what it’s going to take before people hear what I am saying."

“New York City is the hotel capital. We’re the hotel capital — tourism, visitors, sporting events, graduations,” he continued. “It’s a major economic engine for us. Almost 50% of those hotel rooms are being taken up by migrant asylum seekers.”

“Instead of money coming from people who are visiting us and spending and our tourism and our Broadway plays — instead of them using those hotels, we’re using those hotels,” Mayor Adams added to his complaint.

Despite his comments, many are calling into question the claims made by the mayor. A New York City Councilwoman, Diana Ayala, said, “It would be impossible. The math doesn’t add up.”

While there are estimates from officials that the city is housing 65,000 migrants within its borders, many of those are being held in areas besides hotels like school gyms, homeless shelters, and emergency relief shelters.

Just recently, it was reported that many school gymnasiums were being closed to house the illegal aliens pouring into the city, as covered by the DC Enquirer

Adams has openly stated his intent to house the migrants anywhere possible, with a discussion between him and New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D-NY) on closing down streets in New York City to host tents for the migrants, as covered by the DC Enquirer

Regardless of the validity of his statements, it’s embarrassing to see the mayor complain about a problem entirely caused by him and his administration. The mayor has deflected any responsibility in the migrant overloading matter, claiming that the sanctuary city declaration was done before he took office.

Regardless of when the declaration was done, he has completely failed to handle the masses pouring into the city all while trying to blame anyone but himself. While others like Greg Abbott (R-TX) and Ron DeSantis (R-FL) work to manage the border crisis, Adams is content whining about his notably smaller number of migrants in his singular city.
