Should Transgender Athletes Compete Against Women? New Survey Shows Majority of Americans Don’t Think So

A new YouGov poll released this week found that a majority of Americans believe that transgender athletes, males, should not be able to compete in women’s sports.

The poll, which was conducted from April 8 to April 11 with 1,500 American respondents, found that 55 percent of respondents either strongly or somewhat opposed transgender athletes in women’s sports while only 32 percent supported the practice.

Notably, more men opposed the measure than women with 61 percent of men being opposed to the practice compared to 50 percent of women.

The poll also asked a host of other questions related to the transgenderism topic one of which is whether or not K-12 schools should notify parents whether their child prefers different pronoun use in school.

When asked that question, 60 percent of respondents said they supported the idea while 26 percent said that it shouldn’t be a requirement for the schools to tell parents, as reported by Breitbart.

The poll also found that 53 percent of American adults oppose the practice of parents providing puberty blockers to their children to prevent the onset of puberty in order to transition their gender. Only 32 percent of respondents said they supported that practice.

The survey also asked if lawmakers are focusing too much or too little on transgender issues in schools with 32 percent saying too much attention was on the issue, 27 percent saying it was the right about of attention, and 18 percent saying that lawmakers were putting too little attention on the issue.

A notable dichotomy in the poll took place when respondents were asked whether or not society was too accepting or not accepting enough of transgender individuals in society with it being split almost evenly. 32 percent of adults said that the country had gone too far in accepting transgenderism while 33 percent said that society hasn’t gone far enough. Meanwhile, only 18 percent supported the status quo and said that it was an about right level of acceptance.

Another encouraging sign was the respondents’ answers on drag shows. 25 percent of Americans said that they should be allowed for everyone, including minors, while 50 percent of respondents said minors should be banned from attending these events. 14 percent said the shows should be banned altogether.

It is clear that given these responses, the American people are on the side of Republicans on the issue of transgenderism. This is a winning issue for the Right and conservatives should continue to push the envelope on this issue.
