CAUGHT ON CAMERA: DC Democrat Makes Offensive Hand Gesture To GOP Dugout At Annual Baseball Game

During the annual Congressional Baseball Game in Washington, D.C., Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CA) appears to “flip off” the GOP dugout at one point, in a video posted to Twitter on Thursday.

The incident was caught on camera and is sparking outrage on social media. While this light-hearted event is an ongoing tradition in the U.S., it’s also been a point of contention at times.

Back in 2017, during a GOP baseball practice, a gunman opened fire on the members of Congress playing there, severely injuring Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) and four others. All members of Congress survived the incident, thankfully, but the event continues to plague the memory of the annual competition.

In 2022, while tensions were visibly high, there was thankfully no violence. Only an obscene gesture from Sanchez who is now receiving backlash on Twitter.

Several commentators took to Twitter to post about the incident as well, including Nick Adams, and former Congressman Mark Waller.

Waller of Colorado tweeted, “Congresswoman Linda Sanchez flipping off Republicans in a charity game to support the Boys and Girls Club of DC.  Sad!”

Nick Adams, a prominent conservative author, tweeted out, “Rep. Linda Sanchez is classless. Giving the middle finger to the GOP Baseball team is hateful and divisive. Sanchez should be banned from all future Congressional baseball games and permanently stripped of all committees.”

While Adams’ statement is most definitely a hot take on the incident, it causes one to wonder what the response would have been from the Democrats, had the roles been reversed. It would likely turn into a national incident.

While the hand gesture was incredibly inappropriate for a unifying event such as the Congressional baseball game, it may have been out of desperation. Republicans reportedly beat the Democrats 10-0, amounting to a complete and total blowout.

Last night’s victory on the baseball field is just another win in a long line of triumphs for Republicans this year, especially with regard to the Supreme Court.

While Democrats may hold the presidency for another two years, Republicans still have the High Court, the baseball field, and the upcoming November midterm elections to look forward to.
